Welcome to Sindarin Phrases!

Greetings!

This website is intended to serve as a helpful point to people looking for more than just a dictionary; it is set out thematically, and is intended to show you groups of words together (such as colours, seasons, etc.) and how they can be formed into basic sentences.

If you would like a phrase, sentence, or anything else translated (including for tattoos) please drop me a line
here and click on the Sindarin Translations thread.

If you are looking to learn Sindarin for yourself, please click on the Lessons tab.

I have included some of my own constructions within the categories on this site; feel free to ignore them if you wish as they are not 'canon', however they are based strictly on existing rules, word stems, and words, there are no Grelvish style bastardisations (or any completely madeup words).

You will notice that I have only done columns for soft mutation,(otherwise known as vocalic mutation or lenition) along with the word lists.
This is because this is the most widely used mutation, and is used in times such as after 'i' (the), or an adjective modifying a noun.
If you require the other mutations, you may find the table
here.
